Tonight we played "Stump the Chump" and our Co Host El Carpe was the .....well, with a little help...you listen and decide (he cheated, just like his golf game). We showcased eclectic, iconic, diverse brilliant singer song writers that have stood the test of time. We previewed musicians and bands from the 60's through the 90's (except for one somewhat overrated "musician/artist"). They all have unique qualities that separate themselves from everyone else heard today, literally. Our focus was to remind you of lost music that you no longer hear on the radio (thanks Bill Clinton). Who the heck listens to the radio anymore anyway. These are all a reminder of the beautiful music that is becoming more difficult to experience. Buy that vinyl and invite friends over...read your liner notes. Who are we talking about?
The Pixies, REM, Tom Waits, Joni Mitchell, Lisa Gerrard (Dead Can Dance), Dave Mathews Band, Patti Smith, The Replacements (please go buy the album "Let it Be"), Queen (Rolling Stones voted number 1 band to see LIVE for nearly a decade), Carly Simon, Paul Simon, Nirvana, Sugarcubes and.....well, nevermind....not mentioning the last one.
Remember, our show is never edited, rehearsed, researched...its always LIVE just like Memorex (probably too young to remember). So, dig into your parents vinyl and CD collection and give them a spin, you wont regret it. Most of today's music sucks.
It's ALWAYS an unguarded moment. Thanks for listening. We might be on next week, and maybe on time, El Carpe.
